LGA Adults Peer Training Events

The Local Government Association is holding a number of free one day training events for those interested in becoming an LGA peer to take part in Adult Social Care and Adult Safeguarding Peer Challenges. This includes the new Commissioning for Better Outcomes Peer Challenges.

Peer challenges are managed and delivered by the sector for the sector. Peers are at the heart of the peer challenge process. They provide a ‘practitioner perspective’ and ‘critical friend’ challenge. Working as a team, and supported by an experienced LGA peer challenge manager, peers spend time onsite at a council to help with its improvement and learning. Peers help build capacity, confidence and sustainability by challenging practice and sharing knowledge and experience.

Being part of a peer review team is widely acknowledged as a valuable development and learning opportunity. As well as personal development, peer work is beneficial to the peer reviewer’s organisation as the learning is reciprocal. Peers see potentially new ways in which other organisations tackle problems that your own organisation may face.
