From April this year, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) will assess the financial sustainability of those care providers local authorities would find ‘difficult to replace’ were they to financially fail. This will aim to provide local authorities with early warning of provider failure to help them prepare adequately to protect vulnerable people.
On 29 January, the CQC published draft guidance for providers, partners and members of the public setting out proposals for how the Market Oversight Scheme will operate. The deadline for comments is Friday 20 February. The draft guidance alongside instructions on how to respond can be found here
