Seeking Professional Development Lead

LondonADASS is seeking to appoint an experienced Practitioner Development Lead who will bring additional capacity to our team.  This is an excellent opportunity to be part of an organisation that has influence significantly beyond its size.

The role is offered initially for one year, on a fixed-term, secondment or consultancy basis. If employed, the post will be part-time, 2 days per month with a salary of £50k – £55k pa pro-rata.

The Practitioner Development Lead will provide strategic oversight and provide expert advice and guidance to LondonADASS on the professional leadership and development aspects of the programme. Displaying an excellent understanding of relevant legislation, statutory guidance and national policies, the right candidate will confidently work with DASSs and Local Authority lead officers, champion professional social work practice within the LondonADASS programme and provide advice to the Principal Social Worker network on social work policy and practice.

About the role:

The purpose of this post is to support the Programme Manager in the delivery of the LondonADASS professional leadership and development aspects of the programme including workforce with specific emphasis on the delivery of discrete projects supporting front line practitioners. This will include working closely with the project manager, programme support officer, LondonADASS Branch and key partners

The postholder will take a professional lead within LondonADASS, with responsibility for supporting and advising on practice related areas. This will include supporting the project manager in identifying and responding to new initiatives and changes in legislation and government policy relating to adult social work and social care, leading on effective implementation where appropriate.

The postholder will champion the role of social work within the LondonADASS programme, drawing on professional experience to influence strategic decision making so that the social work perspective is taken into account within the programme. This will also include promoting and participating in developing the body of social work knowledge and research within and outside of LondonADASS, working in partnership to ensure that developments reflect the needs of frontline practice

Key Deliverables:

  • Supporting the project manager to scope and develop workforce related products in collaboration with the relevant practitioner networks.
  • Supporting the project manager to deliver agreed products in a timely and efficient fashion. This will also involve working with LondonADASS policy leads,
  • Contributing to the overall delivery of the LondonADASS work programme alongside other staff and the LondonADASS Branch, especially the workforce priority.

About you

You will have an excellent understanding of relevant legislation, statutory guidance and national policies and possess excellent communication, negotiating, coaching and influencing skills. You will have experience of leading professional development initiatives. You will need to be a self-starter and able to manage working flexibly within a small team.

The Practitioner Development Lead will report to the Programme Manager on the professional leadership and development aspects of the programme
